Biography

Chunxiao Zhang, Ph.D., Associate professor and doctoral supervisor, graduated with a bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Science from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in 2007. In 2010, she received her master's degree in Cartography and Geographic Information Systems from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (State Key Laboratory of Resources and Environmental Information Systems). In 2014, she obtained her Ph.D. in Earth System and Geographic Information Science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Institute of Space and Earth Information Science). Since 2015, she has been working at China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and is currently the head of the Department of Geographical Information Science in the School of Information Engineering.

Her research mainly focuses on knowledge- and data-driven geographic simulation, knowledge graphs, virtual geographic environments, and urban thermal environment simulation analysis. She has published over 40 papers in influential domestic and international journals and academic conferences such as Nature Reviews Earth & Environment, Environmental Modelling & Software, Computers Environment and Urban Systems, Remote Sensing, Applied Geography, Ecological Modelling, Land Use Policy, Ecological Indicators, Acta Geographica Sinica, and Journal of Remote Sensing. Among these, she has published 18 SCI/SSCI papers as the first author or corresponding author (including 9 papers in JCR Q1 journals and 1 ESI highly cited paper), and 2 EI papers. She is the chief editor of the Science Press's "13th Five-Year" undergraduate planning textbook, "Spatial Analysis Techniques and Applications of Landscape Patterns" (second edition), and has contributed to the national university Geographic Information Science teaching series and the national "11th Five-Year" planning textbook "GIS Spatial Analysis" (third edition).

She has led three projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one project funded by the Beijing Natural Science Foundation, one first-class project funded by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and several projects funded by laboratory open funds. She has received the second prize in the Surveying and Mapping Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize in the Young Teachers' Teaching Competition of the School of Information Engineering at China University of Geosciences (Beijing), the "Rising Star of GIS" award at the 6th University GIS Forum, the International Geographical Union (IGU) Travel Grant, and an internship certificate from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
