Biography
Shaohua Wang, PhD, is an innovative professor and graduate supervisor at the Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as Deputy Director of Key Laboratory of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He also serves as a part-time researcher at the China Association for Geographic Information System. His research focuses on remote sensing big data analysis and AI, geographic spatial intelligence, and social remote sensing geographic computation.
Prior to returning to China, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara, the SPARC Center at Arizona State University, and the CyberGIS Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
He has received awards such as the Special Award for Progress in Chinese Geographic Information Technology and the First Prize for Science and Technology in Beijing. In recent years, he has published over 100 academic papers, with more than 30 SCI/SSCI articles as first or corresponding author in authoritative journals such as the IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, International Journal of Applied Earth Observation and Geoinformation, International Journal of Geographical Information Science, Future Generation Computer Systems, and Sustainable Cities and Society.
Additionally, he is a BOD of the International Association of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Sciences (CPGIS), the vice-chairman of the Social Remote Sensing Geocomputation Committee of the China Remote Sensing Application Association and the committee member of the Resource Mapping Professional Committee of the Chinese Natural Resources Society.
