From 15:00 to 17:00 on May 23,2024,in conference room A102 of the Olympic Park,Tao ran,University of South Florida,invited by Dr. Wang Shaohua,presented an academic report on "spatiotemporal analysis and application of big data of geographic flow".The report attracted experts,scholars and researchers in the field of geographic information science to discuss the cutting-edge research and application of big data of geographic flow.

As an associate professor at the University of South Florida (who has passed the Tenure assessment) and a doctoral supervisor,Associate Professor Tao ran has been committed to the research on the basic theory and field application of geographic flow big data for a long time.He has a rich academic background.He graduated from Wuhan University with a bachelor's degree and a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.In the report,Dr. Tao introduced in detail the concept and characteristics of the big data of geographic flow,as well as its application value in epidemic prevention and disaster resistance,smart travel,and urban and regional planning.

In the report,Associate Professor Tao ran deeply discussed the spatiotemporal analysis method of geographic flow big data,including the new method of geographic flow spatial measurement, geographic flow exploratory spatial analysis method and spatial interaction model.These research results not only improve the application level of geographic flow big data,but also provide a new analytical perspective for the core research of spatial interaction,spatial-temporal data mining and human mobility in geographic information science.
Associate Professor Tao ran also showed the research results of Tao ran's team in transportation,tourism and population migration based on specific examples.These results demonstrate the great potential and application value of geographic flow big data in solving practical problems,and provide participants with valuable experience and inspiration.

During the explanation,Associate Professor Tao ran also interacted with the teachers and students.Facing the questions from the teachers and students,Associate Professor Tao ran answered them patiently,shared his insights and experience,and introduced the research results of the team in the geographical flow spatial measurement.He encouraged students to actively participate in scientific research practice and constantly explore new research methods and ideas.

The academic report not only provided a platform for participants to understand the latest progress in the research and application of big data of geographic flow,but also promoted academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of geographic information science.Associate Professor Tao ran's wonderful speech won the high praise and warm applause from the participants.
As one of the important research directions in the field of geographic information science,the spatiotemporal analysis and application of geographic flow big data will continue to receive wide attention.We look forward to having more experts and scholars to devote themselves to the research and practice in this field in the future,and jointly promote the development and progress of geographic information science.
