The Fourth Working Meeting of the Executive Committee of ACM SIGSPATIAL China Chapter (Add new executive members: Shaohua Wang)

In order to further promote the development and growth of the branch and maintain the innovative vitality of the academic organization, the fourth working meeting of the Executive Committee of the ACM SIGSPATIAL China Chapter was successfully held at 19:30 on the evening of April 25, 2024 at the Novotel Nanjing Xuanwu Suning Hotel.

The meeting was chaired by Pan Xiao, the Secretary General of the branch, who first introduced the main agenda of the meeting. Chairman Meng Xiaofeng of the branch gave a speech, thanking everyone for their support in all aspects of the branch's work over the past year. Subsequently, after a new application from the Executive Committee and a vote by the present Executive Committee, 17 outstanding scholars including Dr. Ruan Sijie from Beijing Institute of Technology became new members. As of now, there are a total of 81 executive members in the branch. Chairman Meng Xiaofeng expressed his earnest hope to the new members, hoping that everyone can exert the power of the new generation, set high priority for participating in the work of the branch, and actively participate in future branch activities and construction work. The new executive committee members also expressed their gratitude to the branch for providing excellent display platforms and opportunities for young people.

SpatialDI and the Chair of the Strategic Seminar gave a report. Professor Hu Di from Nanjing Normal University introduced the organization and registration of the SpatialDI 2024 conference, with a record high number of registrations and 8 media outlets competing to report on it; Professor Wang Lizhen, Co Chairman of the Excellent Paper Selection Committee at Yunnan University, explained the principles and process of selecting excellent papers for this year. Teacher Meng thanked the chairman for his work in this paper selection. This is the first time that the branch has selected excellent papers and established an independent organization to ensure fairness in the selection of excellent papers. Professor Chen Longbiao from Xiamen University and Professor Yu Ziqiang from Yantai University respectively reported to the attending executive committee on the preparation of the SpatialDI 2025 and 2024 strategic seminars. The present executive committee voted unanimously with a show of hands, and Central South University hosted the 7th Spatial Data Intelligence Academic Conference SpatialDI 2026, while Northwestern University hosted the 2025 Strategic Seminar. Researcher Wang Shaohua from the Aerospace Information Innovation Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences shared the writing work of the 2024 annual strategic report, and predicted the on-site release activity on April 27. To maintain the innovative vitality of academic organizations, the branch held elections for the chairman, vice chairman, and secretary-general. After voting by the attending executive committee, Professor Liu Yu from Peking University will serve as the chairman of the branch from 2025 onwards.

Subsequently, Secretary General Pan Xiao reported on the main activities organized and the construction of the Chapter in the 4 years from 2021 to 2024 under the leadership of President Meng Xiaofeng, including the growth of the number of Chapter's Executive Committee from the initial 42 Executive Committee members to 81 today; the attention of the public number from the 21 years of the new construction, more than 3,000 people have been concerned about it so far, and the popular tweets have reached a reading volume of nearly 3,600, and so on. It illustrates the increase of the chapter's wide influence in the past 4 years. Summarizing the evolution of the previous SpatialDI conferences, special thanks were given to the Conference Chair, Program Committee Chair, and Local Organizing Committee Chair of each of the 4 years for their strong support, which allowed each conference to innovate and maintain a very high level of attention. The two Strategy Workshops organized and the Rising Star Uber Awards over the past four years have resulted in three strategy reports and one batch of talented newcomers.

Finally, President Meng Xiaofeng made a concluding statement: thank you for your four years of strong support. In the next six months, the two teams should work together to make a good transition and handover, and we look forward to the new team leading the chapter to a new height.
